FIRST DAY – arrival in Parma and visit the city beginning with the birth house of Arturo Toscanini in a characteristic area of the ‘oltretorrente’ or beyond the river; walk through
the recently and splendidly restored Ducal Park to arrive in the historical centre of town. Visit the Farnese Theatre, the Teatro Regio Opera House and the St. Paul’s Chamber wonderfully frescoed by Correggio. Lunch at your leisure and of your choice.
In the afternoon step back in time into medieval Parma as you visit the Cathedral and the Baptistery. The evening is dedicated to music with opera either at the Teatro Regio
or another theatre. After theatre dinner and overnight stay in hotel.
SECOND DAY - Cremona and Stradivari’s violins
Breakfast and coach trip to Cremona. Tour of the old-town centre of Cremona:
Piazza del Comune, Cathedral, Baptistery, Torrazzo, the Loggia dei Militi. Visit
to the Town Hall with its hall of historic violins and demonstration of Stradivarius
violins. Lunch in a downtown restaurant featuring local Cremona cuisine. Afternoon:
Visit to an atelier of a violin maker’s workshop. Visit to the Ponchielli Theatre
and to the Art Gallery. Return to Parma. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
THIRD DAY – Breakfast. Morning available for shopping in the town centre, checking
out the elegant boutiques, the small markets looking for Parma violets.............or
else pamper yourself with some wellness treatments in an exclusive specialised
centre. Lunch at your leisure and of your choice. Late afternoon transfer to
the Palace of Colorno to see the palace and its magnificent gardens, followed
by a visit to the ageing cellars of Zibello Culatello with tasting and dinner
in a gourmet restaurant of the Parma lowlands. Overnight stay in hotel.
FOURTH DAY – Breakfast and visit to a dairy farm where Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese is made. Revealing of the secrets involved in its production and aging.
Transfer to Modena and visit to the Galleria Ferrari Museum keeper of the Ferrari myth, to retrace the history of the Ferrari company and
its founder. Visit to a vinegar loft where Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena (Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena) is made. Light lunch at the vinegar
loft with tasting of local products.Afternoon: visit to the city center of Modena,
Pavarotti’s birth town. Departure.

The tariff does not include: coach, transfers, guided tours, entrance tickets,

To enrich your programme:
A visit to another city with strong musical links, like Verona or Bergamo can
be added. You might also like to consider a short cooking course on the preparation
of local pasta dishes or on the salumi tradition. These can be organised in historical
houses or farm kitchens.
