The itinerary begins with a visit to the places associated with the birth and
life of the great composer and leads to the National Museum where the visit allows
you to cover the composer’s artistic life and listen to his music in the authentic
XIX century atmosphere of the Music Room. A tasting of typical products in the
splendid villa which houses the museum will complete your visit. Finally, you
will discover the flavours best loved by the maestro, you will learn to to cook
the dishes he preferred. The programme also includes visiting some of the places
associated with Giovannino Guareschi who was born and brought up in the Parma
lowlands and who, like Verdi, was able to give life to the typical inhabitants
of his homeland: it was Guareschi, in fact, who created the mythical pair of
Peppone and Don Camillo setting their stories along the banks of the river Po
in the heart of Verdi’s homeland.
DAY ONE –Arrive in the Verdi homelands and visit the birth house of Giuseppe Verdi at
le Roncole with the small church of San Michele and the permanent exhibition “Guareschi’s
World”. Transfer to Busseto to visit the Verdi Theatre and the Barezzi House.
Lunch in Busseto in a typical restaurant imbued with a Verdi atmosphere. In the
afternoon, visit the Giuseppe Verdi National Museum and participate in a musical
event in the XIX century music room. To finish, tasting of typical local food
products.
DAY TWO – Breakfast. Visit a cheese plant to see the various phases in the preparation
and ageing of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. Tranfer to the banks of the river Po
and visit a producer of Zibello Culatello, much appreciated by Giuseppe Verdi.
Visit the ancient castle and even more ancient ageing cellars for the curing of
Culatello. Tasting lunch in the castle or in the restaurant. In the afternoon
a walk along the banks of the Po or a brief trip up the Po, followed by a visit
to Villa Verdi at Sant’Agata. Departure.

“Live OPERA” - directly via satellite, live emotions from the World’s great theatres
on a
big screen in full HD
“ Live RECITAL” - in the Museum’s Music Room internationally acclaimed singers accompanied
on the piano will perform arias by Verdi, Puccini, Mozart , Donizetti, Rossini
etc.
“Live EVENTS” - live concerts in the Museum garden with ensembles or pianists in
homage to the great composers. Singers and choirs will interpret the masterpieces
of Opera in the Verdi Theatre.
To enrich your programme:
Add a cooking lesson on the preparation of typical local cakes exactly as they
were prepared for Giuseppe Verdi and Giovannino Guareschi. There are many other
courses on offer, for example on pigs ....... never let us forget, says the owner
of the Antica Corte Castle, that the pig “ is like the music of Verdi, there’s
